Track Day at Bedford Autodrome GT Circuit
Saturday, August 18th, 2007Decided to take the car for a Trackday at Bedford Autodrome. The day was booked with EasyTrack at a cost of £129 for 1/2 a day (1300-1700hrs)
The car used was a 1990 Jetta 2.0 16 valve. The car was running Koni adjustable shocks all round, allong with what I believe to be Eibach fixed springs.
Before going out on track we were giving a safety brief by the friendly staff and then signed a disclaimer form to the sum that anything that happens on track is down to the individual.
I then check the pressure of all the tyres were set to 28 psi on each corner. I went and put a few warm up laps round the circuit. The car seemed to handle really well and felt comfortable on track but I was not pushing it. I then came into the pits and checked the temperature of all my tyre they had shot up to 35 psi which was obviously to much. I then let all the tyres down to 30 psi. I read somewhere on the Club Gti forums that you can tell if the pressure is correct by checking the condition of the tyre;
Scrubing on the side walls indicates too low a pressure
Scrubbing not all the way to the side of the tyre indicates too high a pressure
